This Monday, September 1st, all Centers for Opportunity locations — and our virtual programs — will be closed in observance of Labor Day.
Labor Day is more than just a long weekend. It’s a time to pause and recognize the efforts of those whose work keeps our communities moving — farmers, builders, caregivers, teachers, administrators, IT specialists, and so many others. Every role matters. Every person’s contribution helps keep our modern world functioning.
At CFO, we know that employment is more than a paycheck. Work provides meaning, identity, connection, and empowerment — the very foundations of well-being. That’s why employment support is one of our core services. Helping individuals discover opportunities, build confidence, and take steps toward their career goals is a vital part of what we do.
We also recognize that not everyone has equal access to safe, fair, and meaningful work. Social determinants of health — like housing, education, transportation, and discrimination — can create barriers to opportunity. On Labor Day, we reflect not only on the accomplishments of workers, but also on the ongoing work of building equity and opening doors for everyone.
As we take this day of rest, we invite you to celebrate your own accomplishments, however big or small. Whether you’re in the workforce, seeking employment, or finding your way through recovery, every step forward is worth recognizing.
We’ll see you back in our centers and online on Tuesday, ready to keep walking alongside you in your journey.
CFO’s virtual support programs and employment services help people across Northern Virginia stay connected, supported, and encouraged.
