This is an evening worth showing up for.
Giving Opportunity: Real Stories, Real Success brings our community together to celebrate what happens when people are met with compassion, steady support, and real opportunity. Hosted by Centers for Opportunity during Mental Health Awareness Month, this intimate evening honors the individuals who have rebuilt their lives — and the community that made it possible.
You’ll hear their stories firsthand, told by the people who lived them.
What the evening includes:
A full sit-down dinner — herb roasted chicken, pan seared Atlantic salmon, baked mac and cheese, fresh baked cookies and brownies, lemonade, sweet tea, and water. Come hungry.
Powerful first-hand stories of resilience, growth, and what’s possible when the right support shows up at the right time.
Connection with community leaders, partners, advocates, and people who believe in second chances.
A meaningful opportunity to strengthen the programs that keep pathways open for everyone who needs them — safe housing support, recovery services, mental health stabilization, and employment.
Why it matters
When someone gains stable housing, finds employment, and feels genuinely seen and supported, everything changes. Families stabilize. Communities grow stronger. New possibilities open — not just for one person, but for everyone that person reaches next.
Centers for Opportunity walks alongside individuals navigating recovery, mental health challenges, and housing instability across Northern Virginia. Events like this one help ensure those pathways stay open.
