July Highlights: The Quiet Power of Wellness

With one full month of summer still ahead, we’re embracing the sunshine and the spirit of growth here at Centers For Opportunity (CFO). Our July Newsletter is all about wellness — the quiet yet powerful practice of caring for ourselves so that we can show up fully for our goals, our relationships, and our communities.

Why Wellness Matters

Wellness is more than a checklist — it’s about creating space for peace and purpose in our everyday lives. From taking a quiet walk in the morning light to pausing for a heartfelt conversation, the small choices we make help anchor us in clarity and resilience.

Stories of Impact Across Our Centers

This month, we celebrated incredible progress across our community:

  • Employment Success: One participant shared how, after completing a treatment program, CFO provided not only food and clothing but also the encouragement and job support needed to land their dream job.

  • CFO Annandale: Newly renovated with fresh furniture, the center is buzzing with activity, new staff, and joyful connections.

  • CFO Arlington: Building strong partnerships with local nonprofits while continuing to welcome everyone with compassion and respect.

  • CFO Merrifield: A participant reflected on finding comfort, friendship, and even a space to share music with others.

  • CFO Reston: With staff like Joel Frank offering guidance, participants are finding peace and resources for meaningful employment.

  • CFO South County: From a walking club to a lively Hat Day, participants are enjoying community events alongside personal growth.

Virtual Programs: A Growing Community

CFO Virtual continues to thrive with daily, afternoon, and evening groups that bring hope and healing right to participants’ homes. This month’s theme, “Facing and Overcoming Through Personal Autonomy,” inspired J.P. to share how CFO’s online offerings complement his health journey, helping him stay grounded and engaged.
