On May 28th, Centers for Opportunity hosted its first peer support gala in Northern Virginia, and it was a night that many will carry for a very long time.

To everyone who showed up: thank you.

You planned it, cooked it, spoke at it, hosted it, donated to it, or simply walked through the door to bear witness. You were exactly who that room needed.

To our program coordinators, who stood beside their honorees and said this person deserves to be celebrated, you reminded all of us why we do this.

To our honorees: I hope you felt it. I hope you felt every single person in that room rooting for you.

To our board members, community partners, and advocates who came out to support the work, your presence meant everything. And to the CFO team, who make this happen every single day in every center, often without recognition, this evening was for you too.

To the people whose stories that night brought us together: you are the reason. Thank you.

Because ultimately, this work is about what happens when the right support shows up at the right time. It is about what becomes possible when a person feels truly seen. That is what we got to celebrate on May 28th.
